In a quaint flat in Matunga, sits Ms. Suseela Subbarayudu. She teaches the violin and has been playing it since she was 15. A deep, earthy musical note emerges as the bow strikes the strings, the sound as heartbreaking as it is nostalgic.

There is an effortlessness and precision to how her fingers move across the strings that is spectacular to watch.

The room fills up with soothing traditional carnatic music - the sound an elgeant dance between aching, tense, high notes and a relaxing momentum that draws you in.

As I watch her perform, my eyes catch someone else who shares my sense of awe: her grandson. Her music is timeless and everyone is left overwhelmed.
